Research for Ancillary Tasks - Poster

This poster is so simple. Nothing is given away. They have chosen two contrasting colours, which complement each other and stands out. The black being so dark brings out the brightness of the red. There is hardly any text - the only text on the poster is the title and the release date. The text is in a different font, to the normal plain one. They have done the face in a key hole shape because it draws the on lookers eye into the top of it, because of the leading lines going up. This is emphasised by the darkness of the eyes, which are the main focus of the poster. To enhance this they have added a white dot (supposed to be the light reflecting of the eye ball.) The dribble of blood underneath the title, underlines it but defines the genre of the poster.

The poster uses more text, to the one above. However once again, to define the theme it uses mainly dark colours and colours which contrast and complement one another. This poster has a strap line/ slogan at the top of it, although it is not the first thing you see. This is the release date. The reason for this is because the colour red stands out against the black of the poster. It is emphasised because it is the only things written in red and it is repeated on the poster twice, once in big letters and being bold the second time it  is smaller and down the bottom. The model is the main focus on the poster. This is enhanced by having the lightest part of it, behind him and having leading lines - which I think are trees, going into the middle and going into his head.

I am hoping to take aspects from both of these posters, to create mine as best as possible.
