The narrative story refers to all the events, which go on through our trailer. So the death of the woman and the mysterious phone call right at the beginning.
The narrative plot, refers to everything audible or visual. So the sound effects and the music we add into the trailer, and how it helps move the trailer along. This also includes the story line, how it moves on through times, leading the audience on a journey.
The voice of the narrative can very. Whose story is it being told from. Who's perspective? So this relating to our trailer, it is done through the perspective of the dead woman as she is the main character. There would be aspects done through the perspective of the father, however not many, because if you change it too often the film becomes confusing.
The way that stories are told - how meaning is constructed to construct audience understanding. This is relative to our trailer because we are going it through the eyes on an on looker and the eyes of the dead mother. By changing this the audiences get to see two different views and it makes it easier for the audience to follow.
Group events that's cause and effect the audience. So the main one in our trailer is the mother dying. This has a massive impact on the film as the audience cant see it coming.
The narrative constructed though camerawork. lighting and mise-en-scene. We have used this in our trailer by using many different camera shots, the lighting we have used bright light and low lights and the mise-en-scene, is everywhere, we have carefully planned to the minor detail what we wanted in each frame. This is the problem we have in our first draft, there is one section where the props on the table near the light change when they aren't mean to. We need to re-do this scene.
Levi Strauss
Levi-Strauss did not look at the plot or the order in which events happened.

Todorov's Theory.
Is based on the structure of narratives. He started off films with an equilibrium ( a calm period.) Then a disruption (disequilibrium) a period of disettlement. Following with a state of peace and harmony for the protagonists and a new calm state bring the chaos to an end. The simplest form of narrative (sometimes referred to as ‘Classic’ or ‘Hollywood’ narrative).
Vladimir Propp’s theory was formed in the early twentieth Century. He discovered there was different characters within most films. These are: the hero, the villain, the donor, the dispatcher, the false hero, the helper, the princess and her father. There are only 8 different character types and only 31 things they ever do.This is easily related back to films and programmes today.
This is a rather basic approach at this stage Annabel. Do try to build in your research into narrative theories and which have influenced your planning; likewise audience theory.
